De Balie van het Mensenrechten Comité van Engeland en Wales (BHRC) veroordeelt de recente raketaanval op Camp Liberty, een kamp van Iraanse ballingen in Noordoost Bagdad en vraagt om onmiddellijke assistentie, bescherming en onderzoek.
De regering van Irak is er herhaaldelijk niet in geslaagd om aan zijn verplichtingen te voldoen zoals het respecteren en beschermen van de humanitaire en mensenrechten van deze Iraanse mensen die vluchteling zijn.
In februari 2015 schreef BHRC een open brief, geadresseerd aan de Secretaris generaal van de Verenigde Naties met gedetailleerde informatie over hoe de regering van Irak er constant niet in geslaagd is om aan zijn verplichtingen te voldoen, zoals het respecteren en beschermen van de humanitaire en de mensenrechten van de vluchtelingen in het kamp en hun te voorzien van veiligheid en bescherming zoals afgesproken in het Memorandum van Begrip getekend in 2011 met de VN Verenigde Assistentie Missie voor Irak.
De vluchtelingen zijn bestookt met talrijke dodelijke raketaanvallen en de huidige aanval blijkt onderdeel uit te maken van een wijdverbreid en systematisch patroon.
BHRC herhaalt zijn verzoek aan de VN dat Camp Liberty wordt erkend als vluchtelingenkamp onder de supervisie van de Hoge Commissaris voor de Vluchtelingen van de VN. De VN Raad van de Mensenrechten beschouwt deze vluchtelingen al als “personen die zorg vergen”.
Er moeten door de VN en door de regering van Irak dringend praktische stappen genomen worden om deze kwetsbare mensen te beschermen.
Als permanent lid van de Veiligheidsraad van de VN en als lid van Raad van de Mensenrechten moet het Verenigd Koninkrijk handelen om de autoriteiten van Irak ter verantwoording te roepen over dit laatste
bloedbad.

De Iraakse autoriteiten verzaken hun plicht onder internationaal recht om de mannen, vrouwen en kinderen in het kamp te beschermen. De huidige stilte van hen rond het doden van 23 mensen is oorverdovend.”

Terwijl hij de noodzaak van internationale interventie herhaalde, met name door de VS en de EU om de veiligheid van deze bewoners te verzekeren, deed hij een beroep op de “VN om onmiddellijk een onderzoek in te stellen naar het hoe en waarom van deze aanval”.

Iran cracks down on satellite TV viewers out of fear of uprising

Iranian regime has in numerous times warned and threatened satellite television viewers of arrest and confiscation of their property to keep the people in dark and uniformed to delay an uprising against its medieval regime.
Iran regime police chief has threatened Iran’s youth that the regime’s suppressive forces will take action against people who ’illegally’ produce material for satellite television stations, which are banned in Iran.
'All satellite television activities and programs are monitored, and those who create underground clips which do not conform to the norms of the system will be dealt with,' Revolutionary Guards Brig. Gen. Hossein Ashtari said on Monday in the town of Eslamshahr, south-west of Tehran.
'Creating video clips for satellite television inside the country and airing them abroad is under observation by the police.'
Iran regime police chief has threatened Iran’s youth that the regime’s suppressive forces will take action against people who ’illegally’ produce material for satellite television stations, which are banned in Iran.
'All satellite television activities and programs are monitored, and those who create underground clips which do not conform to the norms of the system will be dealt with,' Revolutionary Guards Brig. Gen. Hossein Ashtari said on Monday in the town of Eslamshahr, south-west of Tehran.

The regime has been working hard to block Iranians’ access to satellite television stations by jamming signals. It aims to prevent the Iranian people from becoming privy to its egregious and nefarious conduct inside and outside of Iran or to be informed of anti-government protest, strikes and other activities by the Iranian Resistance.
However senior officials of the regime have admitted that 40 percent of Iranian families have access to major opposition satellite channel Simaye Azadi.
Operating from Europe, prominent non-profit 24/7 Iranian opposition channel Simaye Azadi, or ‘Iran National Television’ (INTV), broadcasts news and information to Iranians around the world via satellite and the internet.
The regime has stepped up internet censorship, blocking around five million websites dedicated to arts, social issues and news and filtering the contents of blogs and social media. It also tracks down and arrests many online activists inside Iran. Many have therefore turned to INTV as a means of obtaining real information without being traced.
INTV has played a unique role in breaking the mullahs’ censorship and providing the Iranian people with uncensored news and flow of information.
It is banned in Iran for reports that expose the violation of human rights perpetuated by the mullahs and for raising awareness among millions of Iranians of the regime’s fundamentalism, suppression of ethnic minorities, meddling in the affairs of other countries, and particularly about their support for terrorism in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere in the region.
INTV provides constant news, breaking news, talk shows, live question and answer sessions, art and cultural programs, special programs for the youth and women, and political satire to millions of Iranians all across Iran who tune in to watch with their satellite dishes. The Iranian regime’s officials on scores of occasions have warned against the growing popularity of this channel.
Culture Minister Ali Jannati has said that in Tehran, over 70 percent of citizens watch satellite channels.
INTV relies heavily on volunteer work of Iranians all over the world and provides for its expenses solely through donations of Iranians inside and outside of Iran as well as citizens of other countries who support the cause of human rights and freedom in Iran.
Gholamreza Khosravi, an activist of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, PMOI (Mujahedin-e Khalq, MEK), was executed in Iran on June 1, 2014, on the charge of ‘enmity against God’ for collecting information and giving monetary assistance to the Sima-ye Azadi station.
Simay-e Azadi held its nineteenth fundraising program lasting 46 hours from July 24 to 28. Thousands of Iranians, from all walks of life, and from across Iran and other countries took part in the telethon.
In a similar four-day telethon held by Simay Azadi (INTV) in August 2014, a total of $4.55 million was raised.

Iran: ’Persian Gulf’ University students’ protest
According to local reports, students of the 'Persian Gulf' University, Southern Iran, protested against the poor quality of the cafeteria food by placing their food trays on the ground in front of the university cafeteria and stretching it all the way to the president’s office, the other side of the campus.
The students complained that despite a surcharge to the students for improving the food quality, the money has been taken with no change to the quality of the food.
One source familiar with the case said the quality of food does not even match the standards that the country’s higher education ministry has set. This has prompted the students to protest and refrain from eating school’s cafeteria food.

Iran: protests, hunger strike by political prisoners & their families
Iranian Resistance calls on int’l human rights organizations to condemn rights’ violations of prisoners by religious dictatorship ruling Iran
Political prisoners in ward 2 of Gohardasht Prison in the city of Karaj, west of Tehran began chanting slogans such as “Death to Autarchy” and “Death to Dictator” on Sunday, October 18 when Tehran prisons chief Sohrab Soleimani and Gohardasht Prison warden Mardani were inspecting the facility. Political prisoners were chanting so loudly they forced the terrified regime officials to evacuate the prison, these reports indicate. The inmates were protesting how prison authorities are not abiding by the regulations of keeping inmates separate based on their crimes. In order to increase the torture and impose further pressure on political prisoners the mullahs’ regime is mixing them amongst criminal prisoners and or individuals suffering from dangerous and contagious illnesses.
In the meantime, Mr. Mohammad Ali Taheri, a political prisoner in Evin Prison , is suffering from dire health conditions after 70 days on hunger strike. He is protesting the inhumane death sentence issued against him.
In other news on Monday, October 19 hundreds of mothers of martyrs, family members of political prisoners and human rights advocates rallied in Tehran’s Vanak Square protesting the dire conditions their loved ones and relatives are held in behind bars. The mullahs’ Ministry of Intelligence agents, under the guise of building construction workers and taxi drivers, were keeping a close watch on the protesters. Repressive forces were dispatched to prevent the crowd from increasing and at 11:30 am they had closed off the area, not allowing any further bystanders from joining the gathering.
On Saturday, October 17 another protest rally was held outside Evin Prison. The regime’s intelligence agents were seen apprehending a number of protesters.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iraq, other relevant rapporteurs and human rights advocates to condemn the religious fascism ruling Iran for its repressive and criminal practices vis-à-vis prisoners, and especially political prisoners. Furthermore, it calls on these entities to impel the Iranian regime to recognize prisoners’ rights.
